Item #: SCP-8262
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-8262 and its surrounding area have been acquired by a Foundation front organization, publicly designated as a nature reserve and ranch.
Description: SCP-8262 is a single-story farmhouse located in the central tallgrass prairie of Kansas. The structure is rudimentary, consisting of wooden plank walls, a roof, and flooring. Its interior contains only sparse, heavily rusted or dust-covered furnishings, including a stove, cabinets, tables, chairs, and a bed. SCP-8262 manifested abruptly following a local tornado strike that destroyed nearly one hundred structures; the item itself remained undamaged.
SCP-8262-A refers to the corpse of a female discovered on the corner bed within SCP-8262. The body exhibits extensive lacerations consistent with large feline predation, yet shows no signs of decomposition. Autopsy results, however, confirmed the actual cause of death as malnutrition. A portion of the cranium is absent; observation reveals the absence of a brain, replaced instead by a spherical amalgamation of straw padding interwoven with sharp objects (fishhooks, nails, blades, needles, etc.). A square cavity exists below the left thoracic cavity, where the heart has been substituted with a sawdust-filled, yarn-woven heart-shaped artifact.
Attempts to remove these implants result in distinct anomalous effects. Removal of the heart-shaped artifact induces severe aluminum poisoning leading to pulmonary atrophy and fibrosis. Removal of the spherical amalgamation causes all body cavities (abdominal, thoracic, intestinal, etc.) to fill with asbestos. Effects persist until subject mortality occurs or the implant is restored.
A corroded copper plaque found beside SCP-8262-A bears the following inscription:
King of the Forest of Wild Beasts,
For your outstanding courage in valiantly aiding friends to achieve their dream,
You are hereby awarded the The Red Badge of Courage.
All personnel within SCP-8262 report feeling as if they are under intense, high-temperature studio lighting. A minority of personnel have fainted due to dehydration induced by this sensation.
